Today, one billion people across the world live with some form of disability.

The World Health Organisation estimates that there are one billion people in the world currently living with a disability. That’s 15% of the global population, or 1 in 7 of us.

Of those one billion, 80% of cases are acquired in later life, and our ageing global population means the prevalence of disability is on the rise.

Despite the international drive for workplace equality, the value of those one billion people is routinely disregarded by the most powerful force on the planet: business.

But business can’t afford to ignore the value of those one billion people. Combined with their friends, families and communities, they hold a disposable annual income of $8 trillion a year. They also represent a vastly untapped source of talent, creativity and potential.
